I had been taking a class at the Southwest School of Arts in printmaking at the beginning of the year, and one of my prints got chosen to be shown at this exhibit. This was my first show and I was very humbled to be chosen because its a difficult show to get into. The turnout of the event was excellent.  Here is the artist statement for that piece:

Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy 2014

The octopus has always held a special place in my heart. It is one of my muses at the moment. I have incorporated an Asian element that has been a common theme within all my work. This was my one of first images I created using this printmaking technique. The octopus image is etched onto a copper plate. The printed paper was cut out in the same shape as the image. And then bonded and printed through the press.

Creating the entire image as a whole as almost a seamless process. I knew instantly the direction I wanted to go with and was very happy with the end result.  I did not have a name at first for this piece, but once I heard Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy, I knew it was perfect.
